Vernon Monument Maquette

Vernon Monument Maquette

A picture of the Maquette by Les Johnson, the selected sculptor for the Vernon Monument.  The maquette represents the sculptor vision of the monument based on a detailed specification and briefings by the project team which also included visits to the Mine Warfare Operational Training Centre and thge Defence Diving School.

The maquette will form the basis for the monument but there is still some changes to be agreed so as to reduce the overall costs. The maquette consists of a Mk17 Mine that has been severed from its mooring and fouled in a wreck on the seabed.  The diver is positioned to place the Diver Placed Charge.
