Stirling 2012 - tourist info?

Me and the wife intend to have a bit of a tourist session on the Saturday. Has anyone been to Stirling before? Apart from the castle (which we may save for another trip) what are the best places to visit, and do you know the best route to take to get the most out of the day? What should we be trying in terms of local gastronomic delights and a good watering hole for lunch????
